Why carbon fibre? Comparison with an aluminium arm tube shows much reduced colouration and exceptional internal damping. The result is less colouration and energy fed back, which lets you hear the cartridge and not the arm. Multi-element arm tube The arm tube is a composite of multi-lyer carbon fibre, aluminium and acetal damping rings, At the headshell end the tube is 0.5mm thick with a diagonal crossweave, This thin section reduces transmission of vibration to a minimum. The rest of the tube thickness is ncreased to 1.5mm with acetal damping discs bonded in. The c/f tube is clamped into the aluminium arm body over a length of 60mm to make a very rigid joint which damps tube vibrations. |
